What is your biggest failure and what did you learn from the experience?
Biggest professional failure was PaidUp, but not for the reasons you think. Obviously, we failed to grow the business to a point where it would sustain itself from a cashflow perspective. Where I really failed was the time that I didn’t spend with my children. As we all know, startups are exhilarating, but what we don’t talk about is the hidden cost.
If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
A bit altruistic for sure, but I want to be remembered for the relationships I had with people. The relationships I have with my wife Maria and my boys, Will, Alex and Sam are top of mind. More broadly with the people I’ve had long term relationships with going back to high school or even before. Relationships are such an important part of our lives and if I can be remembered for those relationships that’s a life well lived IMO.
